APC UPS cables (serial)

Here is how two different APC UPS serial monitoring cables are wired. I used an ohmmeter on two genuine APC cables.

The 940-0023A cable is for APC's "Simple Signaling", the 940-0024C is for their "Smart Signaling".

My 940-0023A was Gray, the 940-0024C was black. I'm not sure if that can be counted on though.
